About Us
Founded in 1870 in Tokyo, Shoji Chohatsusho is one of Japan’s oldest and most distinguished barbershops. We hold the distinction of being the first barbershop in Japan to display a barber’s pole — a landmark recorded in the 1912 publication “Danjo Rihatsumeiroku” (Directory of Japanese Barbers).
In 1932, we opened our Osaka Namba location, which continues to welcome guests to this day. For over 150 years, our master barbers have dedicated themselves to the art of traditional Japanese barbering — combining time-honored technique with a quiet, unhurried atmosphere.
